ADHD Support for Kids & Teens That Feels Safe and Affirming

Raising a child with ADHD comes with unique joys and challenges. We provide therapy and assessments that celebrate your child’s strengths while supporting your family with tools to help them thrive at home, at school, and in daily life.

Our ADHD Therapy Approach

Do these sound familiar

  • Your child struggles to focus, sit still, or complete tasks

  • Teachers mention attention, impulsivity, or behaviour challenges

  • Homework ends in meltdowns, fights, or tears

  • Your child is bright and creative, but constantly feels “behind”

  • You’re worried about their confidence and future

  • Your child is gifted, bored, and you're not sure how to support their growth

  • You're not sure how to connect

  • Your child could benefit from another adult to talk to

03

Our Approach to Child & Teen ADHD

We support kids and families to:

  • Learn strategies for focus, organization, and emotion regulation

  • Build self-esteem and reduce shame

  • Strengthen parent-child communication and reduce conflict

  • Provide parents with ADHD-informed strategies that support daily life

  • Address co-occurring struggles (anxiety, frustration, or behavioural concerns)

05

What to Expect

In the first session, we’ll:

  1. Explore current challenges and goals

  2. Get to know your child or teen in a low-pressure conversation

  3. Begin to build a relationship foundation to create trust so that skills, tools, and understanding can come next!

02

Understanding ADHD in Children

ADHD isn’t about being “bad” or “lazy.” It’s about how a child’s brain is wired to process attention, emotion, and energy.

Without support, ADHD can impact school, friendships, and self-esteem.

At Fika, we see ADHD as a lens our brains see the world through, not a disorder to "fix" — and we help families build skills, compassion, and systems that work.

04

Modalities We Use

ADHD coaching strategies, CBT, ACT, DBT skills, narrative therapy, IFS or Parts Work, EMDR for past shame/trauma, mindfulness, expressive arts, and nervous system work. Your therapist will let you know what they draw from.

06

ADHD doesn’t have to hold you back.

With the right support, we can build systems that work for our brains, not against them, while unlearning beliefs, unraveling shame, and feeling empowered.
